Lisa Harber-Aschan is a postdoctoral researcher in geriatric epidemiology with expertise in health inequalities, social epidemiology, and community health. She has a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Psychiatric Research and obtained a PhD in Epidemiological Psychiatry from King’s College London, at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience.

Lisa’s work examines social determinants of health and service use over the life-course, with a focus on the and mental-physical comorbidity. She has a special interest in intersectional approaches to examine how social statuses intersect to affect health outcomes. Her current work involves investigating mental health outcomes in older adults in relation to lifelong socioeconomic disadvantage and multimorbidity.

Her doctoral thesis focused on mental-physical comorbidity and health service utilisation using the South East London Community Health study (SELCoH). Since, she has used several other population health surveys, electronic health records, and administrative records to study comorbidity and its social determinants and consequences in various settings.
