The Sino-Sweden Network for Aging Research Workshop took place on October 25-27, 2017, at the Aging Research Center, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. The theme was “Genetic and environmental factors for cognitive aging across Eastern-Western cultures”. The program consisted of Key Lectures, Special Sessions, and Junior Investigator Sessions. The workshop attracted many junior researchers and doctoral students from 5 universities in China and Karolinska Institutet.
– The workshop was a true opportunity for junior researchers to not only exchange their knowledge but also develop a network for future collaboration between Sweden and China in the areas of cognitive aging and health, says Chengxuan Qiu, coordinator of the workshop.
The “Sino-Sweden Network for Aging Research” project is a two-year collaborative project between Aging Research Center at Karolinska Institutet-Stockholm University and Institute of Psychology at Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. The project is supported jointly by Swedish Research Council (VR) and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The goal of this project is to strengthen the existing network and bridge the knowledge gap between Eastern and Western societies regarding the effects of biomedical and environmental factors on the phenotypes of cognitive aging. To achieve the goal, we plan to organize two workshops with different themes in Stockholm (October 2017) and Beijing (October 2018) (see https://ki-su-arc.se/sino-sweden-research-network-on-aging/).
