Stockholm Gerontology Research Center is the Swedish partner in an EU-funded international project that studies “Quality and cost-effectiveness in long-term care and dependency prevention”. The project, which started in 2016 and runs until 2018, includes 12 EU countries (Bulgaria, Finland, France, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Great Britain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria). From the Stockholm Gerontology Research Center and Aging Research Center, Lennarth Johansson and Pär Schön participate.
An overarching objective of the network will be to maximise long-term care policy learning and knowledge exchange between EU countries. In order to meet this overall objective, the Network will assess, synthesise and present in a “policy-friendly” way evidence about the following five key policy themes:
- Disability trends
- Reducing dependency
- Unpaid carers
- New models of care
- Maximising coordination
In a first report, each country has compiled a national report, which is now published on the project’s website: www.cequa.org
On the website there are also a number of policy summaries published which summarizes various current reforms and development work from the participating countries. The next report will be about joint reports on themes 2-5.
