Johan Fritzell has been awarded a grant on 3.8 MSEK from Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation for the project “Health and mortality in older Europeans- a matter of cash and care?”. The overall objective is to enhance the understanding of the role of welfare states for:
(A) health and mortality in old age;
(B) health inequality across socioeconomic groups; and
(C) supporting people in minimising negative consequences of ill-health. Swedish welfare programmes will be analysed in relation to programmes in other European countries.
The project will combine data at macro and micro levels. Project members also include researchers from the Swedish Institute of Social Research (SOFI), at Stockholm University.
