Professor Miia Kivipelto is one of few representatives of the Nordic countries attending the G8 Dementia Summit in the United Kingdom on December 11. Organizers and participants agree that action is needed to address the global health challenge of dementia. Their goals include:

  • Agreeing on a new international approach to dementia research, breaking down barriers to collaboration.
  • Stimulating more investment in dementia research worldwide.

They hope that these actions will help lead to a turning point in the fight against dementia, improving societal attitudes, care, and treatments and ultimately giving people hope.
Miia Kivipelto will participate in the panel discussion on “Social Adaptation to Global Ageing and Dementia”. Live coverage of the summit will be available on on 11 December. Coverage will include video streaming of the main sessions and live blogging.
